Kelly Berger

“Contemporary representational paintings” aptly describes Kelly Berger’s art. Drawn to bold color, light and perspective, her work has quickly garnered regional attention, inclusion in notable collections and a top award in the 2013 International Open Online Show, National Oil & Acrylic Painter Society.

Above all artistic inspiration, Kelly is moved by “raking” light. Recognized within the Denver art community as a colorist, she strives to achieve a bold “color story” in each piece. Her work integrates unique perspectives using overhead, high and low vantage points. Years of experience in visual communications have influenced the underlying graphic structure of her paintings.

“I’m drawn to strong color, powerful contrast and dramatic perspective.” ~Kelly Berger

Throughout her life, Kelly Berger enjoyed periodic forays in the art world including drawing classes at the Art Students League and Parsons in New York, as well as the Art Student League in Denver. Although largely a self-taught painter, she credits Denver artist Mark Nelson and her Brushstrokes partners, Kit, John and Anita, with much of her evolution.

She has been a member of Denver’s prestigious Brushstrokes Studio - Gallery since 2012. Her formative years in Nebraska and college in Iowa are evidenced in pieces depicting rural towns and plains. Her zeal for mountain life inspires mountain and ski themes while several years in New York City have driven Kelly’s passionate focus on urban themes.
