This painting has a wonderful feel of nostalgia, with the poppies growing unattended by an old fence. I found this scene in Telluride, Colorado a few summers ago.
I loved the light in this scene found here in Denver, Colorado at our Botanic Gardens late one summer when the bloom was almost done, the light is getting lower and the warmth from the sun is welcome.
I did a vertical of this scene of wild poppies but loved the subject so much that I wanted to do a horizontal composition as well. These poppies were photographed as a tribute to life after the forest fire of 2000 here in the Rocky Mountains
