I got a new toy! I thought why not go green and commute to the studio on a scooter. So voila, Craig's List comes through. My new scooter is a Honda Metropolitan and gets 80 Miles to a gallon. Penny is strapped on the back in her crate and off we go to the gallery to paint. What great fun I have at my job. So if you see a big guy with a little dog on a red and white scooter laugh and wave!
This piece was commissioned to paint from the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. I was honored to be selected to do this piece and hope it brings healing to those who see it there.
I have been invited to participate in this show benefiting Project education Sudan.
The focus of this organization is on building community, self-sufficiency and hope for the people of Sudan by supporting indigenous Sudanese organizations that model our values and make primary and secondary education available for all. The Project creates hope in Sudan by reuniting families separated by years of civil war.
I selected an image from pictures provided by the organization that touched my heart. The image is of a Sudan mother. I was struck by the her beauty and strength in her gaze. I hope my painting conveys her essence. I will post the Invitation to the event held on September 15, 2007 very soon.
