I was commissioned to paint a 4 foot by 8 foot painting for the lobby of the brand new Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children in Denver, Colorado that opens August 31, 2010
The diverse group of children sitting on a rock in an aspen forest looking at Long's Peak is the subject matter for this piece.

The first painting, "Colorado Masterpiece" is a collaborative commission for a wonderful collector.
"The Finer Things" still life was the painting demo I did in my painting workshop.
"Struttin" is at the Corse Gallery.
The winter ski painting is a small study to show my client for a larger commission.

Kit and I went to Oahu with the Colorado Hawaii Artists 2010 courtesy of Linda V.G. Kelley. We had a fabulous trip, escaped a week of cold weather in February. Here are some of my plein air work from this trip and a couple Hawaiian roosters thrown in!

Kauai King, the rooster was just accepted into the American Impressionist Society 2009 show at Saks Gallery this October.
The large Tuscany oil is a commission that went to Dallas.

Each artist is using one form or reference and painting 7 paintings. I show my photo of the still life I set up with fresh pears, watermelon and white roses and all 7 of the paintings I have completed.

This 10x8" plein air work of the "Governor's Mansion Fountain" was painted during the Denver Plein Air Arts Festival in the Colorado Governor's mansion gardens. It was a beautiful warm fall Colorado day and I was enjoying the camaraderie of painting with other wonderful Colorado artists.
"Late Summer Harvest" is a 36x36" work painted from life. The sunflowers are from John's yard, he brought them in one day along with incredible Colorado Western Slope peaches which I used in my still life then promptly ate after I painted them! Delicious!

This is a very large painting at 60"x48" titled "California Dreamin"...I will be posting more, they are too wet to photograph properly. I have been plein air painting out in the field with the High Plein Air Arts Festival and the Evergreen Paint, Sculpt and Shoot and will be posting soon.

This new oil painting, "Don Juan" will be featured on a full page in the October 2008 issues of Southwest Art magazine.

Some new oil paintings I have been painting this summer. Mountain Bluebird was the last painting I finished for my two person show at Evergreen Fine Art in July.
Tranquil Path was from a lovely hike I did this summer. I love Colorado summers!

California wine country studies from the central coast area.

The first three paintings are from my trip to the mountains to photograph a view for a commission near Vail, Colorado and I ended up taking almost 300 pictures and have enjoyed painting many views and subjects from that day.
The last "Dalmation Coast Fishing Village" is from my European trip this summer with my family. We visited a small village south of Dubrovnik that was such a visual treat for an artist!

The portrait commission I have recently finished painting. I am enjoying painting more abstracted, colorful landscapes as well as my more traditional still lifes.

Anita is a founding member of the Nomadas del Arte show. The Glorious Aspen painting was featured in the March issue of Southwest Art magazine.

I continue to explore the still life which I love to paint in Summer Vintage and Tomatoes on Green. I am in the mood for spring so Poppy Paradise is the result of that wish!

With all the cold and snow in Colorado recently I was inspired to paint warmer fall scenes for our 5th Anniversary show coming up soon on March 14th.

Prague is called "the city of spires" with it's gorgeous red roofs and copper domes.

Mozart loved Prague and spent alot of time there composing under these trees on the outskirts of Prague. The light was beautiful when I was there and I was inspired to paint this large oil painting of the trees on the grounds that must have inspired him.

This is a painting of the street musicians performing on the Charles Bridge in the gorgeous city of Prague in the Czeck Republic on a beautiful Sunday in October. It is my brochure piece for the 2008 Colorado Governor's Invitational Show and Sale in April. The opening is April 12, 2008 at the Loveland Museum.http://governorsartshow.org/

New paintings starting off the New Year

2 commissions I completed for surprise family Christmas presents. I made giclee reproductions of both originals for other family members.

New work for our show. I am exploring organic shapes and playing with color in my landscape oil paintings. I don't know where these paintings are going when I start them so it is challenging and very exciting for me. Have a colorful day!

This plein air oil I did on location of the Denver Public Library at dusk was juried into the High Plein Air Arts Exhibit. Opening November 2, 2007 at the Colorado History Museum, from 6-9pm

I have been back in Kansas City for a family reunion and am back in the studio now. In Kansas City I painted with my mother's Monday night portrait group. My girls were the models.
